It is a testament to Geoff Tate's talent that they needed two singers to cover the full range.
Nah. It's a reflection on the fact that this is a degree recording and they felt that they didn't have a singer with the range and quality they wanted to cover the whole piece (although I suspect the second bloke who sings most of it could have managed) - or they needed/wanted to include two singers. The piece as a whole has a range of an Octave and a half (or a 13th if you prefer. D to high A, although the low D's could be sung an octave up to reduce the range to a simple 9th.
