All just a big misunderstanding based on incorrect media reporting and their just ‘opening consultation’ apparently. So definitely not Infantino having spent too much time in Trump’s company and decided he can be a dictator. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for Infantino.

FIFA will heavily lobby now and emplasise the "only 20%" point, as though that won't bother grow and influence football rules etc.
It's not a done deal either way, but as long as UEFA are not involved, it's dead. And if it goes ahead without them, we will have two world govening bodies before too long.
My fear is that UEFAs solidarity will crumble before FIFA cave in.

David Davies pointing out that UEFA may find it hard to stop some of the smaller nations like Andorra or San Marino accepting the bribe money on offer but I don't see a World Cup with the might of the likes of those European countries playing being any more attractive than a World Cup with no European (and South American) nations so it doesn't feel like a big problem.

I don't follow football but my thought re: UEFA and the smaller countries is that if UEFA follow through their boycott then the value of what is being privatised/sold off will be dramatically lower so those other countries won't get the money anyway.
eg the US$20 bn FIFA are expecting for World Cup, etc. won't be worth US$20 bn is UEFA are boycotting so there won't be the money to distribute to others.

The better teams in South America will not want to weaken links with Europe given the sporting rivalry between them and European countries, and also the number of players from those countries who play for teams in Europe.
