This is an interesting take from the clubs I think. On the one hand it's fair enough, but it's pretty hard to make an argument about player welfare when they jet off around the world during league break periods to play glamour friendlies, usually at the behest of sponsors.

I doubt this will have any effect on the top clubs in the "Big Five" who have dominated everything to do in world football for 20 years, but it might have repercussions for smaller teams, both in those countries and elsewhere.

Closer to home it makes me wonder if Celtic's Green Brigade are ever going to get in bother for waving Palestinian flags. They absolutely should, but the Old Firm get away with everything.

Wasn’t it the usual case of Israelis instigating a violent situation and then when it backfires on them they cry victim?

You wouldn’t think it from that BBC article (and most other MSM) where they position the Israeli fans as victims and only at the very end of the summary do they mention “There are also reports of supporters chanting racist slogans about Arabs”.

But such events don’t normally result in a country’s PM and King expressing sympathy for them.
Or the gang’s PM suggesting a military rescue operation.
