WTAF?

"Wrexham have been asked for comment on the McClean chanting incident."

Exactly. I hope Wrexham back him as solidly as other clubs have (generally) in the past.

ETA: The whole thing is absolutely bonkers. The shirt thing is part of the general poppy appeal organised by the British Legion, who are opposed to anyone being compelled to wear the symbol. It does tickle me when people who criticise others, especially in the media, for not wearing one can't even wear their own properly.

Annoyingly I can't edit my original post (which happens sometimes, dunno why but it must drive multers mental if it happens to him as a fan of the edit), but I meant James McClean.

Going back to the "well this isn't the St. George's cross" faux-outrage, I wonder how many of those who got upset about it care about the modified versions that supporter's clubs make to take on tour? There were a fair few on display at Wemburlee over the weekend.

So, a new government of populists, racists, denialists and narcissists (Dutch variety) gets in and what's the first thing they do? Put up the VAT on football tickets from 9% to 21%. Bastards!

Don’t forget we are still supposed to be angry about the colour of the cross on the England kit.

Let’s see what The Sun has to say about it tomorrow. After all it was front page news earlier this year.

Even Starmer got involved in that nonsense.

I for one am outraged by all the St George's crosses which have been defaced by fans with silly slogans and club crests.

I noticed a Sheffield United one this evening. How embarrassing.

Our pub-run venue had no TV, so I didn't find out what happened until I got home quite late last night.

Did you chop your ears off and walk home with a blindfold on?

I was playing a gig in an ultraposh underground venue and someone town there had the game on a tablet. As soon as I left said venue there were lots of drunk, loud people on the streets yelling "ING ER LUND" and a heavy police presence.

We're a bit more rural here. When I got back to the town the pubs had shut and there were a few more people about than usual, but no shouting or noise - surprised me in fact to the extent that I was completely unsure what had happened (stadium disaster of some kind?).

Oh, and I was cycling - 48k round trip - our usual Wednesday ride to a random pub. Roads were very quiet.

You obviously live somewhere very quiet! Even at home in Surrey I would have been able to hear both the roars from our local "farm" which is hosting a large tv screen, bar and catering and the excited shouting of my neighbours.

I always regard that as a football benefit. If everyone else is watching football then what I want to do is invariably much quieter - cycling, going to the shops etc.

Friend said she was off to a concert that evening and had wondered why tickets were so easy to get. Though she has dragged me to a rugby match in the past.
