You always know this is about to happen, because the FA extend the contract before the tournament. It's their version of a "vote of confidence" only more expensive.

I really am unsure how we will do. It would not be a massive shock to see them win it or go out in the last 16/qtrs if we get a big side like 2022. Probably English optimism but I do think they are one of the five best teams along with France, Spain, Portugal and Argentina and Tuchel has won big trophies.
I really struggle to see a massive shock winner (largely as there never really is), Brazil are very ordinary, you might get someone like the Dutch or Morocco make the semis or even possibly one better. I think the real dark horse team are the USA, handful of experienced players from big European clubs, very good Manager, and Balogun already looks like the one breakout star in the making. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the last 8 or possibly better with a favourable draw in a home WC.

For those not on and/or rough translation Tiktok a few dutch guys brought a swapfiets (dutch rental bike sheme) with them to the Us and they say they got the 125€ it cost them to take it with them on the plane already back with savings on uber alone. they intent to cycle to Mexico too if the dutch team gets there.

It's Emma Hayes, the very successful former Chelsea Ladies Manager and now Head Coach of the USA women's team. Agree that it does look a bit stupid. I don't think it is some kind of subconscious misogyny, I think some designer has tried to make the ITV studio look like a NY loft space and the result is a bit naff.

I'll be completely honest, I turn the sound off at half time in all the games as I can't be bothered to listen to the punditry (I have just seen what happened in the game!) so I have no idea. Surely she can't be as lacking in charisma as Wayne Rooney? Amazing footballer but why the BBC persist in giving him air time remains a mystery.

Same. The selection of pundits has always baffled me.
I raise your Rooney with an Ian Wright or a Roy Keane. Lots of words, no actual insight. None that's been relevant since breaking people's legs has been against the rules anyway.
It's a bit like interviewing Jackie Stewart about F1 in his later years, and expecting someone who was in it when the cars were made of metal tubes to have anything relevant to say about it now.
