Man who is anti subsidy, but whose companies have received $billions in tax breaks, contracts and subsidies from the Government, is appointed to look at Government spending.

Yes - but although he is heading (jointly - can;t see how that will work) he will not be part of the Government

because if he was part of the government then there would be a conflict of interest as his companies benefit fro LOTS of government contracts
and subsidies

so - witha wave of a wand that Harry Potter would be impressed with - he just declares him to be "outside" and therefore the rules do not apply

Good to see he is starting off how he means to continue

Rules are for losers and don't apply to ME!!!!

If Musk is the right man is the next question(i highly doubt it), however seeing and talking about a situation does not nessacary mean you're automatically disqualified because you use the tax brakes, subsidies etc. yourself and/or your companies. There is off course a conflict of interest regardless whether he has found a legal loophole or not.

...Trump’s short-lived former first-term communications director Anthony Scaramucci told CNN’s Jake Tapper that the president-elect’s personnel selections were purposely meant to “own the liberals.” Paraphrasing Trump’s intent, he added: “‘Let’s pick some triggering people.’ And those are the triggering people.”
Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman agreed, telling CNN’s Manu Raju of the Gaetz selection: “It’s just kind of like a god-tier, kind of trolling, just to trigger a meltdown.” ...

I think the scary thing this time around, is that rather than it being unexpected and the team around Trump not knowing the best way to handle him, this time the groups around him have been strategizing and planning and know exactly how to use his vanity and stupidity to get him to do exactly what they want. Sure, he may throw the odd curveball due to his declining mental health, but he can be easily manipulated back where they need him just by massaging his ego and feeding him catnip.

I agree. I consider Trump would be pretty easy to manipulate once people realise he just wants to be the centre of attention, wants everybody talking about him.

how does RFK jr go from initially launching a bid in the Democratic primaries, then running as an independent to now end up serving in a Trump government?
US politics is just broken, and the only people to blame are the US public, who clearly don’t care.

It's a mistake to think of the two main parties as having any fundamental idealogical differences. The USA is pretty singular in never having had any significant left-wing political party.

Although it's still an "if", Trump trying to appoint Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence could have some major impacts of other countries in that I can't see intelligence sharing eg "Five Eyes" still working, not when the head of US intelligence is a Putin sympathiser who can't keep a secret.

If the appointment does go through I can see eg 4 of the 5 being a lot more circumspect about what they share. Worse is that each country will not want to share with any others as the information might then get passed on and it becomes apparent that one is sharing but excluding the US.

That said, I have no idea how much all this secret service stuff is just part of politicians playing games and how much it affects our safety.

Lots of commentators highlighting how everybody should focus on what Trump does rather than what he's said he's going to do. Maybe those commentators are hoping he wont be bothering with his promised "revenge" and going after those who disagree. It looks like that revenge is now starting
Trump sues for billions from media he says is biased against him
President-elect intensifies longstanding media hostility by filing lawsuits against New York Times, CBS and others

With only two months left until Donald Trump returns to the White House, the president-elect and convicted felon has been waging lawfare by a flurry of lawsuits against media companies and publishers that have been critical of him.

The lawsuits come amid growing fears of what a second Trump term would mean for press freedom as Trump intensifies his longstanding hostility against the media – which he called “the enemy camp” in his victory speech last week.

To me the most intriguing thing is what is going to happen to Trump regarding the criminal convictions he is still awaiting sentencing for.

He as President cannot pardon himself for these as they are State crimes not Federal ones.
