Proposal to use Russian assets to aid Ukraine. I know it had been considered previously but looks like the EU are looking to push it forward:

We'll believe it when it actually happens. Seems to be complicated.

The much-needed liquidity would be available immediately – on the understanding that Kyiv would repay it through reparations from Moscow once the war ends.

What if Russia has a massive financial crash and/or splinters?

Did I miss the bit about Russia agreeing to pay reparations?

I'm not sure it's orthodox.

Sounds abbot right to me, if he's got a prior.

Whilst I'm all for Ukraine being given Russian assets to defend itself I do wonder about the precedent set. From what I've seen International Law protects those Russian assets and to weaken that law by ignoring it and then what's to stop Trump switching from tariffs on those he disagrees with to seizing their assets? And do people believe Trump wouldn't?

Let Europe set the precedent and then watch Trump make full use of it.

A couple of good things to come out of Kyiv Post including a 700 drone attack 2 days ago:

Explosions Shake Saratov as Drones Target Oil Refinery Near Engels Bomber Base

A wave of powerful explosions rocked Russia’s Saratov region overnight, in what appears to be another long-range drone attack deep inside Russian territory – just a few dozen kilometers from the Engels air base, which houses strategic bombers used to strike Ukraine.

SBU Drone Hits Russia’s Tuapse Tanker, Triggering Major Fire Again

Drones have struck oil facilities at the Tuapse port on Russia’s Black Sea coast yet again overnight on Sunday – setting major fire to an oil tanker – as confirmed by multiple sources.

Tuapse is home to one of Russia’s largest Black Sea oil export terminals, handling several million tons of crude and oil products annually – its proximity to Ukraine places it well within range of Ukrainian strikes.
