Which highlights the challenge and difficulty getting accurate information rather than spin and PR.
...
Sure but the damage to 2 significant data centres in Russia cannot be under estimated.
Check out Jeremiah Fowler security researcher and decide on the efficacy of his observations yourself.
I'm not questioning the damage, not commenting on the impact on Russia, just pointing out that presenting graphs with no Y-Axis ranges specified that don't agree with graphs with a Y-axis specified from the dame sata provider highlights how challenging it can be to get accurate information
eg Fowler's graph specifies a single point at 49.8% commenting on a "drop in Russian BOT traffic"; yet the same data source gives BOT traffic back in June 2026 lower at 45% and March 41% making Mr Fowler's 49% an increase.

But even looking at his graph and post in isolation the graph shows nothing with out a Y-axis scale so it does no more that give a single point with nothing to compare it to. The graph provides no evidence to support his assertion (which Cloudflare's own data suggests shown no trend eg lok at the drop (using data from the same source) from high 91% dropping to low 40% except this happened 12 months ago 10 Oct 2025

Ultimately, the drop in bot traffic is a good thing, no?
Perhaps (if one was optimistic), Russia's tentacles and grip on numerous points of interest is slipping. Perhaps, this is because the core is weakening: too many things to juggle.

I'm not questioning whether BOT traffic drops are "a good thing" (except Cloudflare's own data does not show any drop). I'm not questioning Ukraine's successes nor the impact on Russia.

I'm just highlighting how presenting graphs with no Y-Axis scale show nothing and provide no evidence of an otherwise unsupported assertion.

Undoubtedly both Russia and Ukraine are trying to highlight their successes and minimise any failings going to whatever lengths they feel reasonable to that end. For us to form a realistic view of the situation we need accurate information and graphs with no Y-axis scale that don't appear to show what they are supporting just mislead us.

I agree with your "perhapses" but that graph provided no basis for optimism (nor pessimism) - it's meaningless and misleading asnd as such should be ignored if trying to understand the actual situation.

Can I just point out that 2025 is after 2022. And let's not forget that the invasion of Ukraine started in 2014, and before that Georgia was the target in 2008, and even before that Chechnya. I'm not fan of NATO, but let's not kid ourselves about Russia's intentions.

Ian has this thing about NATO.

Wrong way round.
NATO, and those who have since joined NATO are doing so in response to Putin.

This one does have a Y axis, but no idea how credible it is.

I believe I happen to have the same thing about NATO. But also that same thing about reviving the Russian empire.
It would be better if conditions had been such that it hadn’t been felt necessary to form it and join it but we were coming out of a World War.
All organisations that countries join formally need to be viewed with scepticism or they move away from what they were originally meant to be.
