I am not sure why people are going on about this? I am not religious in any way but if they praying I don't really understand the issue, but it seems to be all over social media. Am I missing something?

Am sat in a bar in Donostia, Basque country, and have seem more Argentina shirts than Spain shirts today. Nevertheless, rooting for Spain tonight.

Yep, we were also in the Basque country in 2010 when Spain won against Holland. Sentiments quickly changed when Spain went ahead.

It is complicated. Spanish officialdom can be over the top with their prescriptions of what is Spanish. So why should Basque (or Galician, or Catalonian) people want to be Spanish if their culture is not considered Spanish?
A few years ago Spain won some football championship or another. Some people in Bilbo, I think, complained about the noise from the celebrations and the Civil Guard arrested the complainants. I don't blame the Basque fans for not being overly enthusiastic.

Agreed. I didn't think you had an issue with it, I had just seen a few people viewing it negatively on social media. I assumed it was an issue on with religion on their part but I didn't know if there was something else as that all seemed rather trivial.

Since I watched my first world cup in 1978, Archie Gemmill's wonder goal, this is the first one that I've struggled to have any interest in, I didn't even watch England's first game.
From the moment I watched that orange bellend gurning as he took the peace prize from a man who makes Sepp Blatter look like a choir boy it went downhill, then there's the Somalian referee not being allowed in, it's a shame the other refs didn't back him by refusing to take part without him.
Advert breaks midway through each half, an American player being allowed to play the next match after being red carded, and the final being turned into the superbowl, other than that ermm.
Thank fark it's all over.
