I don't follow what the guy does but has this not achieved what he wanted? ie he gets into the news so is not irrelevant/forgotten. His supporters will believe the accusation and disregard the verdict ie they'll now believe his human rights are being oppressed because of his views (we've seen similar madness from an individual on this forum).
