It is certainly a strong field for the annual "Tory daffodil of the year" award.

Only an arrest for fraud plus a civil suit so far but here’s a senior Tory councillor in Scotland under investigation.

Andrew Polson, who was the co-leader of East Dunbartonshire Council until May, has been released pending further inquiries.
His arrest is mentioned in court papers for a separate civil action brought by a 68-year-old woman
Mr Polson, 49, said he was unable to comment due to a confidentiality clause which is linked to that civil case.
In the court papers lodged by the woman, she claims that Mr Polson persuaded her to let him manage her finances and used her money to buy property for himself.

Mr Bone is deliberately misrepresenting the situation to sow division in that Tory way they are so fond of.
Surely not. He's such a nice chap.

In 1995, Bone was described as Britain's "meanest boss" by the Daily Mirror when he defended paying a 17-year-old trainee at Palm Travel (West) 87p an hour,[4] equivalent to £1.78 in 2021.

In February 2014, The Times newspaper reported that Bone had been under investigation by the police for the previous 12 months relating to an alleged £100,000 fraud concerning benefit payments of care home fees for his mother-in-law.[20] Bone issued a lengthy statement denying fraud allegations.[21] In March 2014 the Crown Prosecution Service said it had concluded that there was insufficient evidence to bring criminal charges.[22]
