Anyone got any fuel?

The 2 stations in Deal have not had any since Friday afternoon. The one in Sandwich is only serving emergency services/workers, Wimps has been told not to go to work to conserve petrol and has abandoned her long-standing meet with friends in Brighton. I put fuel in the camper (half a tank) Friday afternoon to go away to meet friends and family at the weekend and am hoping there's enough in the mighty Dacia to get me to Heathrow tonight (and hopefully back on Thursday night.

Madness, utter madness.

How's it with you?

I've got hundreds and hundreds of litres of the stuff

But it's red, so I mustn't put it in my car..

This is the new NACA and is only for discussing the why, not the what, and never the twain…

I think this is the thread you’re looking for.

I added just enough fuel pre-panic to get me home so the car now sits near-empty on the drive... Actually, the range display was so wrong after a rare day of untypical urban driving — or possibly my lazy crosscountry driving is so super-efficient that the range display won't trust it — that it claims it could still get to the third-nearest city and back.

We continue our routine trips (work, socialising, shopping) by bike as usual, regarding the fuel queues with detached puzzlement and wondering why so many people want to stockpile so much. If I really need to make an unplanned journey to faraway family, I'll cycle to the station and pay the silly-money train fare or more likely still get some discount deal on it.

Car fuel is now expensive enough that I think even just the fuel we bought for last week's trip cost almost as much as a two-together off-peak advance return, but we did use the car for something that would have meant hiring if we didn't take ours. Maybe next time, if prices stay the same or get higher.

You can get a lot of shopping in a tractor.

Indeed

Specially with a fore end loader, and a four tonne trailer on the back 😊

Simple question - have you or anyone you know been stopped for a check?

Myself only once, about thirty years ago, in a 'classic' farmstyle held-together-with-baler-twine, Landover, and very near our local farmstore.

So an obv situation for a 'sting'.

Still, there was 'Nothing to see here orrifacer'.

Yes I've heard of others, being dipped, but no one I know personally has been prosecuted.

I remember hitching back from Cornwall one time and getting a lift with a guy in a van who was running it exclusively on red diesel - and had been for years .

He reckoned the one time he'd been caught and fined, still left him quids in overall.

We're at the petrol station
And our cars are full of cans
We're queuing round the nation
Cos we're Brexit Petrol Fans
And folks are getting angry
Though they've Taken Back Control
Cos Foreign Lorry Drivers left
And left us in a hole

We told 'em they weren't welcome
And they really ought to go
And we really, really meant it
But how were we to know?
That we'd need 'em to deliver stuff
Like petrol, bread and beer
Now we're in a queue and angry
Feeling sweaty, thick and queer

But we remember Project Fear...

Thought I would answer the question, yes, boring, I know ;)

We have been "on holiday" (can you be, "on holiday" the you are retired?)

Left home with a full tank of diesel, on Sunday, due to drive 155 miles from to visit Grandchildren. Computer said we had 180 miles of fuel, a bit close for comfort.

Garage on A11 had small queue and no restriction on amount, so got a full tank, enough to get us home again, in a couple of weeks time.

Not that I go there often, but I have seen a tractor in the Tesco carpark.
There's a garage near here that has a red diesel pump on the forecourt.
