More of the same reporting.

Whilst it smells of scam, Musk is not loved by many employees and thousands of ex employees.
So a bit of scepticism is neccessary.

Exactly. And what is the scam? It's not helping to sell the car as this is something you look at after you have bought the car. At best it's a bit irritating.

Consumer Reports seem to be confirming that Tesla are way over reporting range.

Edit 'regenerative braking set at lowest level'.

Or Tesla is over reporting battery capacity? Over optimistic I guess.

I don't have any issue with my Model S 100D, it does well over 200 miles between charges on tours into Europe.

Wife's model 3 does well over 200 miles and never worry about range between charging.

Our Nissan Leaf does 200 miles in mid winter- no issues at all

You really should not be driving more than 2 hours, maybe 3 hours at any one time. That is no more than 180 miles in the UK/Europe

The argument is that Musk is over stating mileage in order to grab the sales.

Battery capacity is a notoriously slippery concept, unless you know the test conditions of each claim you can't really compare the claims.

Tesla are grabbing sales because their cars are years ahead in technology compared to others.

To give you some obvious benefits over their competition for given price bracket

  • Regular over the air updates- this includes free vehicle improvements/ features
  • Their FSD is better than the rest-currently
  • Greater range than most of the competition- for same price bracket
  • Superior performance- acceleration
  • No regular servicing required
  • minimalist design concept-popular
  • unrivalled Supercharger network
  • Tesla mobile phone app is excellent, works flawlessly.

You just ask drivers who have a Nissans, VW, BMW, Porsche etc who have driven a Tesla. Most will confirm if honest, that as a package, Tesla is a country mile ahead.

It really has very little that their range is slightly below what they advertise.

Go and hire one for a week, then you will realise how good they are.
