Please, please, please don't get caught up in this discussion about Teslas. :stop:

For any daft enough to be interested there's a 400 page thread on the mothership that has been in a continuous loop for almost two years.

People do tend to get all auto-emotive about their tin-boxes on wheels.

I agree Teslas are great cars, mainly because they are EVs

Yep, Tesla the new Audi. Driven by arrogant self righteous pricks who think they own the road.
Apologies for being slightly off topic and insulting a few Audi and Tesla drivers who may not deserve it.

No I drove them before they were tarred with the BMW drivers ;)

I must admit there is a smugness you get driving an EV. Especially when they shred an ICE car

The argument is that Musk is over stating mileage in order to grab the sales.

Which is a crap argument since the mileage figures in question are only relevant *after* you have bought the car. Sales rely on WLTP figures not what the software says.

If they were such lemon's then their sales would not be rising so rapidly. Their reputation would be trashed
To add to this. I've owned a VW ID4 for 10 months. So far there has been a recall for a software update and recall to do with the boot seal. Plus the handle for the rear driver side door just stopped working.

Faults are common in new cars. The difference between the ID4 is that al of their recalls have required me to go to a dealership for service. They even did this for a software update as the OTA capability wasn't working.

Baffling that they were allowed in the first place. as storage.
Why? They work really well.

My favourite line was this:-

Federal climate change and energy minister Chris Bowen responded that the “LNP will find any excuse to demonise renewables”.
“A gas bottle caught on fire at a service station in my electorate last week. It set off a series of explosions and a major fire. I don’t remember you drawing a conclusion about energy safety from that?”

The Australian government is so anti renewable, because their home brown coal and mineral mining companies have so much lobbying power over the administration.

It's a country perfect to utilise vast areas of inland deserts for wind and solar. With their small population and largely concentrated into a few o major cities. Setting up renewables wouldn't be so hard.
