The reason for this is the same as the reason why 262 prisoners were released by mistake last year yet it is front page now.

The reason why is probably that they are a collection of individual offenders from different cases who have been jailed in one area over the course of a few months. Their cases are unrelated. Most forces do this.

My local paper does a round up of recently jailed violent offenders every couple of months. Why would the BBC or Sky make a regular occuring round up of local sex offenders their top story? There are, sadly, so many of these regional round ups that it's hardly national news worthy.

Do you think taxpayers should have a vote on the the "appropriate number of staff" for Mr Windsor?

Even though you can only read so much before the 'subscribe to read more', I suspect it lists the obvious double standards.

https://www.adambienkov.co.uk/p/the-great-noticing-era

Over the past year British media organisations have started noticing things that they spent 14 years ignoring, and ignoring things that they spent 14 years noticing. Never has this been clearer than over the past week, which has been dominated by a series of stories about prisoners being mistakenly released from British prisons. In reality, these releases are nothing new. In the last year of the Conservative Government alone, 115 prisoners were released in error, including a series of serious offenders. At no point did this fact ever make the front pages of British newspapers, or lead news bulletins on the BBC. Yet the second the problem can be blamed on a Labour, rather than a Conservative Government, the combined ranks of the British media suddenly starts to notice it. This isn’t the only example of the ‘great noticing’ currently taking place in British politics.

There was an article in the Graun about how dire the water situation is in certain parts of the UK too: if winter doesn't do the job, 30 years of not building any reservoirs is going to catch up with us.

Guatamalen cleaner and mother of four, shot dead because she arrived at the wrong address and was shot through the house front door.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...shot-indiana-showing-wrong-address-rcna242352

A house cleaner and mother of four died in the arms of her husband on Wednesday after she was fatally shot to death outside a home near Indianapolis after they mistakenly arrived at the wrong address, the woman’s brother told NBC News.
Maria Florinda Rios Perez, a 32-year-old immigrant from Guatemala, was headed to work cleaning a home with her husband in Whitestown, Indiana, on Wednesday morning when they arrived at the wrong house, Rudy Rios said in Spanish.
Rios, 22, said when his sister had just arrived at the house, she tried to open the door using keys she was carrying when she was shot in the head and “fell into the arms of her husband.”

Just WTF is it with Americans and guns?

I think the title for top line this poll should be "fuck knows" (even they had bothered to put the Liberal Democrats, who have 10x as many MPs as Reform, in the mix).

An interesting chart in that it's not really Starmer/Labour but to a large extent Reeves who seems to be driving Labour's economics ... as far to the "right" as the backbenchers will let her get away with.

Any chance that Robbie Gibb, Chris Mason and Laura Kuenssberg could upset Trump too?

Does that mean Trump ‘owns’ the BBC now?

Two wrongs don’t make a right but……..
The irony of it all is that the 50mins between the first half of the sentence and the other half of the sentence of the speech was all lies (about the election being stolen and threatening Pence). By the time Panorama was broadcast last year, everybody had drawn their own conclusions on what Trump was up to. If the attack on the Capital was against his wishes why did he pardon the rioters.
