Would you intentionally use less in something that is published knowing that the less and fewer brigade will unleash their anger on you? Part of me likes to think that I would stand up for the righteous, liberal speaking, much scorned less team, but the other part of me thinks I would just wimp out and conform to their nonsense.

Yes. When it comes to pedantry (which has always been a pejorative term), I'll admit to being a troll, so I'll use a correct version that I know that'll wind up the pedants, whose only recourse is to claim some sort of divine authority for a made-up 'rule'. I rather enjoy smoking out those people. And yes, I know I'm evil (sometimes).

Because it is far easier and more profitable to snatch someone's phone or shoplift. Both crimes which have dramatically increased.

Fair point - I suppose it's the free market in the raw.

Which one is the fewer of the two evils?

I found this particularly shocking. That people will spend so much money just to avoid a short walk
London homes 500 metres from station ‘command £42,700 premium over those 1,500 metres away’
The extra amount buyers are willing to pay increases the closer to a tube or railway station the property is located. The researchers found that a property situated 500 metres from a station commanded an 8% premium – amounting to about £42,700 based on average prices in London – over an identical or very similar property 1,500 metres from a station.
Whilst the report is largely about the markets returning to pre-pandemic levels, I wasn't aware of this pricing effect and am shocked.

That does not surprise me in the slightest. I know people who drive 200m to the local shop for a newspaper.

There's definitely some truth to it, but I'm not sure how much of London is more than 1.5km away from a tube or train station. Also, there are a lot of places where the bit near the tube is much cheaper as it is not as nice e.g. Wimbledon vs the bit on the hill, Archway vs Highgate Village

Can anybody think why drug companies don't like low prices? Search me, I can't think of any.

I read it as a sarcastic retort to those who complain about being called fascists despite holding clearly fascist views.

Yep, that’s how I read it. I think it is over used (like socialist for anyone who doesn’t hold right of centre views) but what is happening in the US is definitely moving into facist territory.
