Most obvious answers are they tethered the front of the boats in the lock

or

they weren't paying attention to the movement of the boats whilst the water was going down and got hooked up on the lock gate.

My bet is tethered. Seen a whole side of a boat ripped off because someone tethered their boat in a lock

It was Sultana's framing of it that was the point: wars have always used the working class as the fodder, and to say on that basis that 'Zelenskyy is no friend of the working class' seems naïve at best.

There is the point that the militias are press-ganging people who can't afford to pay, even those who are exempt.

She is right, but when you have people like Putin on the other side then the calculation is somewhat more complicated. It brings to mind the old se vis pacem para bellum.
