It's sensible. If you offer kids pizza and chips as an option, they'll mainly just pick pizza and chips. Some of it is down to parents who don't feed their kids a wide variety of foods at home, which ends up with children turning their nose up at anything but fries and turkey twizzlers, but you just reinforce that at school if you serve them the same.

It's also fairly old news, unless it is now applying to secondary school. Many primary schools already run healthy menus.

I think the new thing is it's a bit stricter and there will be more checks and governors expected to ensure compliance. I do think there's been a big improvement in the last decade but perhaps it hadn't been seen across the board.
