Not sure where to begin with Tennessee being unable to kill someone, twice.

But its humane, apparently.

If there's anyone MAGA involved, they will claim that operation Epic American Injection was a complete success, and its objectives never included preventing ongoing life.

I suspect many folk will think that she deserves it.

I you are going to have capital punishment, then actually killing them quickly and relatively pain free is the least that can be expected.

Burnham doubling down on Iran being behind the events at Fairford this week.
Presumably posters on NCAP know more than the PM who will have had briefings from the intelligence services.

It's not solely a MAGA or GOP thing the death penalty. There are Democrat states that enforce it too.

This sounds like an almighty cock up, and typical of the US and their idea of justice. It sounds like the sexual abuse she endured as a child wasn't taken into account and there were court actions right up to the last minute.

Surely MAGA should be saying that it is god's will that she lives?
Nah, religion only applies when it suits.

In the absence of information we can draw our conclusions. Seems to work for Donnie.
Until I read or see to the contrary it is my opinion that they are desperate to find something to back up Donnie's claims, and escalate Iran.

Considering previous history of how to manufacture consent for supporting US adventures (dodgy dossier), I remain skeptical.

Has Burnham ever given the slightest hint of wanting to escalate the Iran situation and increase support for US actions there?

Grumblings about Ed Davey from a Lib Dem MP. I really do think Davey has lost the Lib Dem plot and is edging towards confrontational populism, opposing things because the confrontation gets clicks & likes, not because he's thought through his standpoint in depth (see also the 10p cut in fuel duty).

Tom Gordon MP October 1, 2026

I listened to Ed Davey on the Today programme this morning, and frankly, I think he missed the point. The idea that we're keeping the triple lock to help millennials is at best for the birds, and at worst downright insulting. I say that as a millennial. The case for the triple lock is a worthy one - stopping pensioner poverty. I want that as much as anyone. But pensioners are now less likely to be in poverty than children or working age adults.

We talk about fairness, yet our answer is to give the same increase to every pensioner, treating the one choosing between heating and eating exactly the same as the one with millions in the bank. I can see no moral or fiscal case for above inflation rises for millionaires. That money should go where it's needed most - to everyone in poverty, not just one group. It could help fund free personal care, a policy that would disproportionately benefit older people.

Ed is right that we shouldn't pit one generation against another. But intergenerational inequality is already one of the defining injustices of our time, and this would further entrench it. Worse, it gaslights an entire generation into believing it's for our benefit. Telling millennials we're keeping the triple lock to help us in 30 years' time is nonsense.

We're on course to be the first generation worse off than our parents. We're locked out of the housing market, paying higher taxes, repaying student loans that never seem to shrink, and putting off having children because of the cost of living. I joined this party because I care about fairness and tackling inequality, and that has to include inequality between generations. This line, and this decision, fails on both counts. Ed needs to think again.

Yes, by claiming Iran is behind the attempted “terrorist attack”.

If he has credible information to make him claim that he is telling us what he believes to be true he is right to say so.

If he hasn't he should say that and make no other comment.

Neither course of action is escalating the Iranian situation. If the Iranians are behind it then they are escalating the situation.

"If" is doing an awful amount of lifting there.
Nothing makes sense of terrorists getting released on bail.
