I rarely use Photoshop and don't even have Gimp installed but it sounded (at least in the past) that a lot of overlap between the two but Adobe seem relaxed about it.

I did have a look around recently as my main use of Adobe is LrC and I was considering moving to something else and was considering what else would replace my occasional Photoshop use but never got as far as investigating specific packages that would support my few .psd images.
Adobe might be relaxed about while they figure out what to do. If they explode with rage and righteous indignance it rather suggests the knockoff is worth them worrying about.

Copyright lawyers earn a lot because its not straightforward. I am not a copyright lawyer, so take the below woth a pinch of salt...

Even if you were to take their suite of software titles and give the list different names but advertise that each one does the same as its Adobe counterpart, I'd say there's an arguable case. Also, while I dont know much about software code, on the face of it if you use Adobe products as close inspiration and write something to do the same thing, theres a chance it does it in the same way, no? Then there's screen layouts, instruction manuals and so on. By analogy to copyright in the general plot of a novel, as opposed to the exact words used, if all your knockoff software does the same things in a way that users of Adobe will find sufficiently familiar, where the Adobe products are the inspiration, "copying" could happen. In principle.

Adobe can f*ck right off.

They destroyed Macromedia.

And their when they put in "Generative AI fills"?

F*ck that.

Value your creativity.

I use LrC (Lightroom Classic) and have disabled Generative AI features pretty thoroughly even preventing the domain name they use for it (Firefly) from resolving ie if the other disables are not honoured when it tries to use the site to do the generative stuff and it will just "domain not found".

Fair enough.

It's still an Adobe product.

It's a clever invention, but not for me.

My subscription expired/renewed last month and I was considering Capture One, probably as good as LrC for developing images but also increasingly introducing AI features but nowhere near as good as LrC for DAM functionality. So did what I do every renewal and ... their subscription becomes less of an issue.

But Adobe's focus on development is not matching things I value. Their mobile sync. has on some releases been a disaster and over a year later I'm still tidying out remnants of that disastrous release. LrC is gradually becoming more and more of a mess (something not unheard of in software that has been developed over many years).

Not sure that the 'Keminaissance' (aka Badenoch Bounce) is as big as the RW press are making it out to be.

Pollimg dome before the main parts of the Tory conference happened.
It would be much more relevantr if polling was done this week now conference season is over.
I think polling through Party Conference times (for any Party, not just over their own conference) is a waste of time.

Eg maybe Burnham's bounce will also mean a bigger plunge downwards when he fails to meet his announcements. Maybe Badenoch's smaller bounce might be more sustained as nobody expects her to be able to implement her announcement in the near future. Or maybe not. Maybe imbalance in news coverage is an underlying bias.

Need some time for events and news coverage, etc. to stabilise before polls become useful within the constraints of such indicators.
