I love the smell of burning wood but never understood why wood burners were allowed to become so popular when we already knew about burning coal and health issues.

Possibly, especially the fad there was for the big Aga stoves, though I also think people just think 'renewable' unlike coal and assume there are only upsides.

I seriously doubt that big oil is infiltrating local councils.

I'm glad that Fenland council stuck up for bats though.

TBH it's probably more that the guy asking for the planning permission didn't do all the necessary environmental reports. I'm sure the planning will be back but with some environment and wildlife surveys attached.

Yeah, true. At least it's been flagged though. Bats are awesome!

There was a bunch who lived/nested in a tree on the other side of my fence until the new owners of the house chopped it down. I was not impressed.

Around me just about every planning request has to come in with a bat survey, a tree survey etc etc.

Yeah, there was none of that (as far as I'm aware). My neck of the woods can be a bit of a free for all when it comes to things like "permission".

And just to emphasise that, Hertz car rental is finding EVs a financial headache.

Best to cripple the planet than suffer the horrendous cost of EV repairs, though just maybe they are actually in their normal disposal cycle period making the article nonsense. However, the crazy insurance ratings of EVs semi confirms what is written.
