While Schumer is playing nice and trying to sell his book, AOC and Sanders are starting to look as if anyone is capable of motivating a mass movement, they are. Have to admit Sanders' passion, clarity and energy are extraordinary for an 83-year old.

USA is a two party country, having a show of 25k attendees is nothing new, in fact it's exceptional for the democrats.

Harris could only muster that and she paid for most to attend. I wonder 🤔

Compare it to 50,60,70 thousands that got into the stadiums and the many thousands queuing outside at Trump's rallies.

There have a been survey after survey recently, showing the US public are very much in favour of Trump's policies and an overall very satisfied with his first few months in power

I would not think it so unusual to remove your opponents security access, Biden set the precedent with Trump

Norm Eisen sounds like a deranged vexatious litigant, threatening to file more and more lawsuits

Gallup:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- At 47%, President Donald Trump's initial job approval rating for his second term is similar to the inaugural 45% reading during his first term, again placing him below all other elected presidents dating back to 1953. Trump remains the only elected president with sub-50% initial approval ratings, and his latest disapproval rating (48%) is three percentage points higher than in 2017, marking a new high for inaugural ratings.

It's just a bad period for US politics full stop, with neither party offering much in the way of a sensible middle-way vision that could bring the country together. The 2 party system means there's no moderating influence on the Reps or Dems in terms of needing votes from smaller parties, and it's so partisan now that even reflective voices within each party can't make any headway. Hopefully in 4 years both sides will have sorted themselves out with more sensible policies and candidates that can unify the US.

This is Naca. Words don't have to be tethered to reality. They can mean whatever you like.

That reminds me of the wise words of Humpty Dumpty... "When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.”

I do so like that, really I do. Speaks volumes to me. Alice wasn't quite so convinced though... "The question is, whether you can make words mean so many different things.”

To which Humpty Dumpty answers... "The question is, which is to be master—that's all.”

We all speak different languages, even when it's the same one. For example; the Americans and the English, 2 nations divided by the same language.

It's remarkable to the rest of the world that it is still that high, but I think the news bunkers are so well insulated in the US that the people whom all Trump's edicts are going to affect the most - oldies, the poor, the rural, the working class - haven't yet seen the direct affects, or worry about the extent to which the Constitution is being flouted. When Medicaid and social security are gutted, and cheques don't arrive and people die in large numbers because they can't afford medical care, then that figure ought to head south.

But it's the US, so who knows any more?

It really is Alice in wonderland stuff. As Xipe said eloquently:
Why do their fans, their followers, their advocates all deny observable reality?

It would be 'fun' to go back and quiz all the people who said Trump wouldn't do all the mad stuff he bandied about before the election, now that he's doing all the mad stuff. "Don't panic!" they said. "Everything will be OK!" they said.
Doesn't work. You'd just get "Not the MAGA I voted for". Remember "Not the Brexit I voted for" from who got what they voted for ie Brexit.
