In June, the most popular news channel was BBC News. It reached 12.1 million viewers

Like him or not- Russell Brand has 9 million views per month and his platform is still growing

Just under 50% of people are below average intelligence.

That probably accounts for GBNews and Russell Brand viewership.

I don't doubt it (I think Brand is a very charismatic and eloquenbt guy - I haven't followed his recent adventures too closely though ...)

I was questioning the idea of no-one (in your sphere) watching TV News. Seems a brave claim!

Sorry, are we on about the same Russell Brand I'm thinking of? Who uses big words to make himself appear more intelligent than he actually is? Who pops up occasionally to flog himself to the public to sell a booky wook?

Forbes posted this research figures

The average amount of time spent watching television on a TV set – be that live broadcast, catch-up, on-demand or recorded programs – has fallen to below three hours per day. That’s 20% lower than in 2020 and 5% lower than in 2019, showing that the increase in TV viewing during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns was short-lived.

TV viewing is dying on its feet

The youth are watching far less than average

TV viewing dropped across all age groups, but particularly amongst the young. Broadcast TV viewing fell 23% year-on-year among 16 to 24-year-olds. Compared to 2011, that age group now watches 1 hour and 52 minutes less television each day, a fall of 68%.

270,000 cancelled their BBC license last year bringing 1.96 million households, far less contribution.

It won't be long before BBC becomes subscription

83% of statistics are made up on the spot.

We live in a media age, it happens.

"The youth", "the young", whatever demographic you care to identify are impossible to quantify.

Evidence?

At the risk of mixing up my medians and my averages, wouldn't it be expected that roughly half the population would fall one side of an average?

It's irrelevant anyway.

Many studies have shown that people of all ages and intelligence want their news delivered in a simple and straightforward manner.

In other words, they do not want to be challenged by the style of news presentation whether in print or on the telly.

So even the boffin who is breaking records at MENSA wants his news delivered in the style that is fairly prevalent - the BBC, ITV, Sky, and the satellite channels all being similar in that regard.

Glad at least you got it.;)

Very possibly. But they probably want news and analysis, rather than partisan propaganda, which is GBNews output.

A lot of this come down to media literacy, something which CXRAndy clearly lacks.

The Brexit campaign played on this, targeting (via social media ads) those likely to be susceptible to the lies). It is known, for example, that they scraped the data of online gambling users as they viewed them as a susceptible group.

I'm not sure why anybody would pretend that people arent susceptible (after all we have a multi-billion advertising industry that relies upon it) and that people differ in their susceptibility.
