It's a mathematical fact.

Average intelligence

Ah, I've got it now, you were having a little harmless forum fun.

Lost on me and Cookie, obviously, but I wonder how many others failed to see the joke.

Sorry, are we on about the same Russell Brand I'm thinking of? Who uses big words to make himself appear more intelligent than he actually is? Who pops up occasionally to flog himself to the public to sell a booky wook?

Well .... I haven't watched this world-dominating YoutUbe channel under discussion, but yes, I believe it is he!

[I suspect he's gone a bit loopy recently from what I'm hearing, but I used* to rather like him. The world - or at least, the entertainment industry - needs characters! Like that nice historian with the long hair that blows in the wind along the coast ... ]

*I actually read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Booky_Wook due to a free copy from someone at the publisher. It were good! This was 2008 ish ...

I don’t watch the channel and don’t know who the guy is. If he’s done nothing criminal and his private life consists of paying for dick pics then it’s none of my business, just like the Huw Edwards story.

You are reading and posting in a thread about it.

A bit like bursting into a village book club and screaming "I HATE READING!"

What would the impact on society be if you DID take them

Don’t think society would take much notice at all about whether I to took them seriously! From their social media posts and replies , it’s all about the likes and retweets . To be honest news and politics is a shoot show !

I'm still none the wiser who the "convicted phone hacker" Wootton claims is involved in the story against him.

Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
Given the tale is more juicy than Edwards', I'm a little surprised it hasn't grown a few more legs, although apparently it is in The Guardian.

Here's a clue

That's one of your more dumber conspiracy theories.

The story was almost certainly slow to build because the newsdesks thought 'who is Dan Wootton'?

The answer - a presenter on a low audience satellite channel - meant the tale was put in the 'one to keep an eye on' pile.

Wootton himself elevated it up the pecking order by making his statement, which pretty much everyone jumped on.

If you think being a former colleague protects you from attention, you know even less about newspapers than I thought you did.

Oh, and another reason newspapers don't attempt this sort of news blackout cobblers is because they know it will never work, thanks to media plurality - one of the others is bound to do it sooner or later.

Media plurality is something I only mention occasionally, but it is super important.

I'm still none the wiser who the "convicted phone hacker" Wootton claims is involved in the story against him.

Me neither, but listening to his statement again he might have meant Byline Times employs, among other people, a convicted phone hacker.

There weren't so many convictions, but I can hardly remember any names, so doubt even if the name was put to me I would recognise it.

I cross referenced the names if convicted hackers with Byline employees. No match I could see.

Besides, Wotton has been accused of rape and extortion, and his first reaction is trying to discredit the accusers with something irrelevant. Added to which, he then claims a great conspiracy to destroy not only him but GBNews.

Here's a thought...

If GBNews is the massive big deal that all the gammon idiots say it is, then why is the story of Dan Wotton's alleged crimes not being reported more widely than Huw Edwards activities, especially considering that that the claims against Edwards did not involve criminal activity and were denied by the alleged victim, whereas Dan Wotton's accuser is alleging rape, blackmail and extortion?

Really? Possible, I guess ... <googles>:
"In June, the most popular news channel was BBC News. It reached 12.1 million viewers"

Now I guess that includes BBC News watched online - you can check if you want, thanks - but if you don't know any of those 12mill it suggests you have quite a narrow social circle.

They could have a social circle of over 48 million people

Possibly because the BBC like to portray themselves as the superior moralistic guardians to the minions.

Edwards fell off the top step, so is being vilified. Rightly so, for not upholding the BBC standards. But legally, no one gives a monkeys, perverted guy-so what (his predilections with a consenting adult)

Now the public are bored with these allegations flying around, and will probably only take notice if there is any serious wrong doing.
