Norway, Ireland and Spain are set to announce their recognition of Palestine as a state which is a pretty big move.

Predictably enough Israel isn't happy about this, but my overall impression is that nothing other than being allowed to act with total impunity is enough for them.

Rules are good, but only when it suits.

Israel has form for being as ruthless and aggressive as it thinks it can get away with. Then there's the added factor of Netanyahu being desperate to retain his position to avoid prosecution, which means he's in hock to the extreme right. The US is offering mild rebukes whilst continuing to bankroll the slaughter. The UK's position, trying to suck up to the US, is pointlessly criminal. Nothing good is going to happen unless the US changes its tune.
