I don't see how Israel can expect to be trusted for any "ceasefire" in future nor how the US can pretend to be any sort of honest broker in any negotiations. Seems to me there was a 2nd phase already layed-out just minor detailsto be negotiated yet Israel broke the terms of phase 1 several weeks ago (stopping all humanitarian aid) and now is radically trying to change the terms of phase 2.

And supposedly a "ceasefire" is in effect yet no appart from stopping all aid, now lots of bombing and civilian deaths.

At the risk of crossing threads I don't have much higher hopes for Ukraine as soon as the resources are denied or depleted.

I just posted words to that effect over on the "War with Russia" thread. To me the US has "shown its colours".

I already ignore. But really there is little to convince me to stay. Just page after page of people arguing with a moronic troll.

Me going is no great loss to anyone, but regardless I wish you all well :hello:
I know exactly what you mean.

It's a real shame as there are some really interesting people here who raise good points challenging my own views (which is the main reason I joined). But flooded with daft fake news Twitter videos from an unthinking troll ... what's the point when it's swamping and suppressing the interesting debate.

I've not been here for long but have also been thinking of departing.

Every village has its idiot. You just laugh at them and go about your business. They are happy being laughed at.

We have YTSandy. He is happy. :wahhey:

It is really very simple - if you ignore trolls, they just get bored and go somewhere else. You're all being played: the whole point is to get you to react by saying outrageous stuff. So he says outrageous stuff and you react. He wins not by winning an argument, but by you thinking that you can.

This means that while antisocial personality traits do play a role, what really influences trolling behaviour is the social pleasure derived from knowing that others are annoyed by it. The more negative social impact the troll has, the more their behaviour is reinforced.

Happily, this discovery suggests an easy way to deal with trolls: ignore them, rather than giving them the satisfaction of an angry reaction.

Individuals seeking a negative social reward may still engage in trolling. But if they don’t receive that negative social reward, then their motivation to engage in this behaviour will likely diminish.

So it appears that the classic internet adage really does hold true: don’t feed the trolls. Deny them the pleasure of an angry reaction, and they’ll probably leave you alone.
