Interesting. However I'm fairly confident I can remember similar comparisons from a few years ago, substituting Boris Johnson for Fagface.

This graphical representation of tax in relation to the global economy is useful. It helps to show that individual's tax and necessary consumption to live is taxed much higher than corporate profits. It also helps to dispel the myth that corporates just upsticks and leave where they are required to pay higher corporate tax. The wealth gap across the world is widening due to corporate greed. The world needs to come together to end this. Simply put this means the world needs to stop voting for economically right wing parties. Democracy is our power, we waste the opportunity each time we vote for an economically right wing party as a protest vote. The only logical protest vote is a vote for the left.

People who come here bragging about their wealth and encouraging others to vote for the extreme right wing want you to vote to protect their interests, not your own. The tactics of that persuasion are to make people believe that they have much to fear from other people, and pretend that they are your defenders. The war on 'woke' tells you that they want the abolition of human rights and workers' rights so they can extract more. They'll have you believe that you'll starve if you vote for climate protection - the exact opposite is true.

If a political person or a political party is promising you lower taxes and protections from others; well you should know the people they represent - it sure ain't the ordinary person - the worker who relies on a wage or a salary.

Democracy is the freedom to vote how you like. Like the freedom of free expression it doesn't protection you from consequence.

Wasn't it the same then? Lots of media support for Farage, but ultimately polling indicated that people don't want Farage to be PM.

You mean one those nasty people who avoids paying UK tax?

There are two types of ex-pat:
  • British citizen who has moved abroad, works abroad and pays tax abroad.
  • British citizen who has moved abroad for the minimum party of the year required, along with their money but still works in the UK via offshore companies and holding companies to avoid paying tax.

It looks by definition you're an expat

Have you taken up citizenship in said country?

If you haven't then you are an expat

I don't need to take up citizenship so I don't call myself an expat.

My choice not to use that term.

I prefer economic migrant

That's perfectly fine, if you arrived legally. 👍

Did you sneak in on a dinghy or back of a lorry?

Are you joking? In Hong Kong?

That's a helluva truck ride

Anyhoo, yes, I arrived legally and now a Permanent Resident so no need anymore for two year visas. However, as I was not born in Hong Kong or China, I'm not allowed Hong Kong citizenship but that may change in the next few years. PR is good enough anyway.

Doesn't stop other illegals from travelling half way around the world to get to the UK

UK should adopt what HK does

Hong Kong’s approach to illegal migration is multifaceted, focusing on strict enforcement, deterrence

Yes, HK does have quite strict entry procedures, possibly due to it's size. I had to jump through hoops of fire in 2013 to get my first visa but, once you're here, renewing is a breeze as long as you're employed and haven't broken the law.

You do need to have a job and medical insurance before they'll let you in to live and work. We have the European style healthcare system.

These entry procedures are just for people coming to live/work, not visitors.
