Glasgow City Council has decided not to waste a penny on any celebration, saying that to do so would be “sickeningly offensive”.

The event organised by Perth had to be cancelled because of lack of interest.

Who gives a f00k what Glasgow Council is doing?

I dunno, people who live in Glasgow perhaps? The clue might be in the username... And if you're still struggling, educate yourself about sectarianism in Scotland.

The amount that's been spunked on the whole thing is ridiculous, and she hasn't even been arsed to show up to half of it so far.

People passing through Glasgow might find it quite interesting.
As well as the people of Glasgow.

Your world view, really does centre entirely on yourself doesn't it??

Seems a very reasonable stand to me, if individuals or groups want to celebrate fine.

Meanwhile the council spend money on the needs of the people.

"In Switzerland, British Embassy staff have been working with world famous light artist Gerry Hofsetter to project a Platinum Jubilee light display onto 4 Bernese Alps mountains, including the majestic 3,967 metre high Eiger."

Hideous. What next, Coke adverts projected onto the moon?

And why has nobody stood in front of the light and made bunny ears? No sense of humour, the Swiss.

All this palaver won't harm Danny Boyle's income!

Malcom Mclaren was a very flawed person but the way he stole and then claimed ownership of the punk movement was a masterpiece of media manipulation.

The Sex Pistols were just three session musicians and charismatic front men. Lydon even told everyone it was a con and ripoff at the time which I still find hilarious.

This.

At least Lydon admitted they were basically a manufactured boyband, unlike The Beatles.

Stretching it a bit to call Jones, Cook & Matlock 'session musicians'! They were 3 street kids who could play a bit & used to hang around in Malcolm McLaren's shop. Really they were no more 'manufactured' than 99% of bands that manage to get beyond playing pub gigs.

All true, but after 45 years I can still feel the energy of encountering them when I was fourteen. Good times.
