Not quite slang, as much an abbreviation. Sparky is certainly slang. Up north, leccy is/was more common than sparky.

As I said above, the “younger” people in this area use “leccy” for Electrician.

Bear in mind, I am 76 going on 77, when interpreting the word “younger” 😊
