ALl sorts of tales of bullying, both verbal , finger pointing included and physical in order to get people into lobbies

JRM denies all of it - says someone shouted to people to vote but it was only one shout in general
either he is lying or several others are

a while after the vote it is still unclear whether or not it was a confidence vote

Just heard that the 3 line wip was suspended by No 10 - but they didn;t tell the WIPS OFFICE or the CHIEF WIP

Chief wip and deputy have both resigned

questions asked about whether or not the vote should count if they thought it was a confidence vote but it wasn't and they were not told

so - just another day in the Truss Party

I think the term 'clusterfark' applies

Rumours that that may not be accurate

at least one has said he was there and voted but is on the list

possibly his card did not register - but there are protections - dunno what I imagine a light or somthing to confirm it has been read - so careles or a dodgy way of not voting and getting away with it
or maybe he is lying -
this is not over

The Westminster website confirms that Truss herself didn't vote. So if it was a three-line whipped confidence vote then I expect she will need remove the whip from herself.

Total debacle. Before PMQ there was talk about her struggling on now that the markets have stopped going ape about the mini-not-a-budget. But this is just incompetence on an epic scale. I cannot see how she will be PM come the end of the week, but the Tories cannot unite behind a Unity candidate so if she goes it will be all out infighting. The ERGers are already screaming about a Sunak coup happening with Hunt and Shapps coming into the prime jobs (so still not realising that their ideology does not survive any contact with reality then).

It is very lucky that we are in such benign times and can afford having a government in open civil war. I would be really worried if we were living in a time, hypothetically speaking, where Russia was invading neighbours, a full scale energy crisis was happening, inflation was rampant and we had yet to recover economically from a pandemic. That would truly be a dumpster fire if that happened. Oh...

Can we take a moment to appreciate the genius of Labour tabling this opposition debate?

I think it worked out better than anyone in Labour would have dared to hope, but even so it was a clever use of their opposition day time to throw a divisive topic into the Tory party just as they were trying to pretend normality had resumed.

Kier Starmer and the Labour party tonight...

Complains that MPs acting in their personal interest are damaging the interest of the party. No mention of the country or its people.

I listened to that as well and noticed absence of country or people, although he did mention the country in passing a little later.

It sums all this up. They don't give a shoot.
