Having seen the footage of the incident involving him, he could be in some serious trouble.
He is stood facing a male who has his hands in his pocket, when Amesbury punches him to the face. On the footage shown, there is no basis to suggest it is self-defence.
That is not to say that there may well have been provocation. The video has no sound and does not show anything earlier. However, provocation is not a defence to an assault allegation. It would be interesting to know what was said before this to cause Amesbury to launch this violent attack
The footage also shows Amesbury approaching the male after punching him to the ground and repeatedly punching the victim on the ground (No kicking, just punching) - this attack on the victim after his earlier assault can only aggravate matters.
It's probably a good job for Mr Amesbury that prisons are full of right-wing thugs, so there is limited space for him to be locked up
Wonder if there may be a need for a by election in relatively near future
