A new British political party is being announced later this week.

The Subjugate Party policy aims are stated as:

Repeal all human rights legislation.

Repeal all employment protections.

Deport all migrants doing keyworker jobs.

Sell all British citizens' private data to international bidders.

Abolish the benefits system.

Sell of the NHS.

Already spokespeople for Reform, Restore and the Conservative Party are aggressively threatening to sue for stealing their established policies.

''This is no joke'', said Labour's new Minister with responsibility for countering political ridicule, satire and lampoonery, also saying ''he is not amused as his alarm hasn't yet gone off and he isn't yet woke''.

They'll claim it is bankrupt and give it away one of their friends will pay £1 to "take the burden of rescuing it". I wish I was joking.

That's been the model and aim in several areas, but the NHS is the biggie. The Tories started it: underfund it and allow it to fail while running up massive deficits, and then say that the state can't afford to save it, only the white (hooded) knights in shining armour, who just happen to be private equity businesses. Now they've seen the profits available in so many sectors on a smaller scale, they'll be miffed that Labour hasn't (at least *yet*) allowed the NHS to follow suit, and some of the indicators (waiting lists, A&E waits) are improving.

Obviously there will always be problems and failings in such an expensive, big, and essential service, but there does still seem to be life in the NHS model.

FWIW, I think the oft-lauded French model is going down the shïtter somewhat. The GP and pharmacy model is really creaking under the strain of an ageing population (with closures of smaller and less central services) and outdated practices (and a hypochondriac tendency).

My current experience of the NHS is that it is just an extraordinary thing, albeit one that needs a bit of navigation from the patient's perspective.
