But isn't it weird how there is ALWAYS someone like this in the comments? Your sister wasn't being criticised - nor were harpists in general! - so why so defensive?

I didn't take it as criticism. Just pointing out that there are reasons why people need such gigantic vehicles.

A harp doesn't fit in a Defender btw.

All the cool people drive a B'lingo..

They seem to be the routine car/van/ mobile shed choice of the times, for many of us practical land-based tooled up folks.

(And musicians๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ)

If you're short enough (I'm not) you can even use them as an occasional camper van. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿž๐ŸŒณ

Sorry know it's not a car thread as such...
I'm six foot and can quite easily sleep in ours.Made a conversion for it so you can remove it and have it back as a car/van.
Partner uses it for transporting her art stuff most of the time.

Ah yes, lovely.
I've seen that done - very cosy.

I more meant just chucking all your c@rp to one side folding up the seats and kipping as best you can on t'other side, rather than a super luxe conversion like that..

Which looks palatial. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

(See I was right - all the cool cats have a b'lingo๐Ÿ˜‰๐ŸŒˆ)

Far from cool lol...and it's not luxury believe me ๐Ÿ˜ always have a tent/awning with us.More a you can park up where you want when needed.

As another member of the 'lingo club ours is both an excellent car and a damn capacious van for IKEA, trips to the tip etc.

Although it was the vehicle we were using when we did the IKEA thing of buying something that wouldn't fit....

Only uncool people think they're cool Adam..
That's the paradox ๐Ÿ˜‰

Believe me..
For someone who usually (by choice) overnights like this

We got a king-size sprung mattress into ours. Just. Getting it out again was more difficult if not actually dangerous.

It was a settee that stuffed us. The frame itself fitted, it was the extra foot or so in the package containing tools/screws that stuffed us. That and the fact we'd left all three rear seats at home.

Eventually got it so the tail hatch would shut but at the expense of folding the front passenger seat down leaving no space for Mrs B.

Prob solved by me going home solo in the 'lingo while she sat in the coffee shop.

Couldn't get it out of the 'lingo on my own so returned in our other car, effectively mine, to retrieve the Missis.

I've sometimes wondered if there might be money to be made by parking yourself in a Transit outside Ikea to offer an 'on demand' delivery service.

Against that idea (groan) is that most people, like Bromp, seem to manage somehow, even if it means pratting about.

No doubt Ikea would also want a bite out of your earnings, and I expect as a big company they might be difficult to deal with in terms of getting permission and contract conditions.

Ikea deliver themselves, there's also plenty of people on the internet/couriers willing to collect your stuff for a fee.
