Sainsburys' series of christmas 2020 adverts featured several different families in several separate adverts, one of which happened to be a black family. The racists of Britain (led by chief racist Laurence Fox and his self declared boycott of Sainsburys for celebrating Black History Month) got rather miffed about this.

Sound familiar?
How much gravy are they buying though?I'm just enjoying the theory that Sainsbury's has only got a few white customers left. I guess they've not been to one in a while.
Is that to paint themselves brown so they can sneak in?How much gravy are they buying though?
And so are Icelanderz....Ant and Dec are white though.
Aerated no, bemused yes.
Fiction is the key word, some poor bastard in advertising thinks casting this unrealistic scenario appeases the lefties.
Is advertising not by its nature an economically right wing endeavour? As 'some poor bastard' who has worked in advertising for most of my adult life, I can confidently tell you that there's nothing about appeasing the lefties involved in how people are represented.
The UK is a multi-racial country, why shouldn't that be reflected in the way things are advertised?

That's why I made the distinction of economics. I guess that sometimes it makes right wing economic sense to display oneself as socially left wing.Well, yeah, but I was meaning more the representation of people. That's just not a thing.
Saying that, I have heard some pretty unsavoury opinions, including "I don't think this is the sort of lifestyle we should be portraying" when I'd presented a couple of guys in tuxedos (maybe getting married, maybe just at an event, who knows?) as an image option.

Which is partly why I dislike left and right labels.
