Not really, I've replied to posts that I felt needed clarification.

Why would I be bothered about Brexit, I voted leave and we left.

Whether the benefits of leaving I thought would happen have or have not come to fruition is immaterial really.

You however, voted remain so have suffered immeasurably I guess and for that I apologise but that's what happens in a democracy.

If you don't like it move to Korea.

"I voted for something, but got nothing I was promised or that I was hoping for, however, I don't care about that cos I can tell people to move to different countries and think I'm smart when I do."

How absolutely ludicrous to be so kowtowed that you will meekly accept being utterly screwed over and describe it as immaterial.

But to @shep, it is. He has already stated that he is financially secure and doesn't feel that he is suffering in any way as a result of Brexit. I imagine Jacob Rees-Mogg, Lord Rothermere, the Barclays, the Murdochs etc all feel the same way. Which is a perfectly valid position to hold.

I just fundamentally disagree with it.

In my own life I see minor inconveniences, and am lucky enough to be in a secure, well paid job, as is my wife. We will weather the storm and probably be able to afford the fuel bills. It doesn't mean however that I don't see lots of people suffering, see that this decision has set back the cause of science by quite some degree, caused used economic damage which may well materially affect me soon and will definitely affect my children and any potential grandchildren.

I can see that if I am ill, it has badly affected the health service for example. I can see interest rates skyrocketing which may affect my mortgage. More importantly I know how much difficulty it will be causing the medical staff that I used to work with and how the lack of disposable income is already starting to affect the high streets etc.

Anyway - I'm sure Liz Thatch will sort it all out. Probably via the medium of cheese.

Another Brexit win for the rag.

No cycling holidays in Spain. And for that matter, leave the laptop at home.

Brexit is bad enough, without making things up. Isn't making things up the job of 'the rag'?

I have been to Spain (and France), since Brexit, with bicycle and laptop, no problems.

Think we need to wait for the full outcome, as it may just have been an administrative error?

Exactly.

As @BoldonLad said Brexit has caused enough problems without the need for exaggeration. Pointing out every issue, which may or may not affect many people, is not going to change hearts or minds and deflects away from the really important issues.

Maybe it's different with large groups? Says on here that they paid it...

UK Government website tells you what to do here. Clearly, the 'complication' was a) a 'large' group, and b) bikes being transported seperately. It does add cost and inconvenience, but, that is what 52% of the population voted for (I wasn't one of the 52%).

I am not denying the Brexit has made travelling in EU more complicated than it was, but, not to the point where you are about to be charged customs duties on your personal bicycle/watch/camera/phone/etc when travelling as an individual. Interestingly, there are restrictions on what food stuffs you can take into EU, this has impacted those travelling with caravans, motorhomes etc. Since I was never inclined to want to take a cupboard full of 'English' food with me, it has not affected me personally.

Sounds like a bit of red tape gone wrong to me. Do we know the size of the group? I can't see it reported anywhere. £7k is a scary sounding amount but it would be useful to know the cost per bike.

Counting off the initial website, I can see 31. And it certainly looks like they're all in Spain?

Couple of hundred quid then? Still not great but not catastrophic. I couldn't afford it but then I couldn't afford a Spanish holiday anyway.

I was going by that. I am also aware that you need to research requirement for each destination. Here, they have obviously been sent separate requiring import duty to be paid. This might happen depending on country, country region, and which staff are on duty.

There are lots of strange stories, the US as usual the craziest.

Yeah, I hope they get it sorted and only pay what they were meant to. It would be a shame to see a charity get wiped out because of Brexit.

From a few more bits of reading I've done around it, the customs officials thought they were trying to sell the bikes.
