They'd be seen as being in one by virtue of their country of residence. Assuming they resided within it of course.

Take a short trip to Ireland, Pembroke isn't that far from you, and observe which channel you now have to use. You are limited to what you can now legally bring in. Bar of chocolate, or homemade sandwiches*, now no longer allowed. Something you'd not think twice about, until you're asked if you have any of the items on the board.

*Dairy produce and meat(the UK is still a BSE risk country).

and how come no one has had an issue taking bikes into france, belgium, holland, germany, portugal etc etc.……oh thats right, becuase those countries didnt make any mistakes, like the spanish authorities did.

They're UK citizens and the UK would have been in the customs union.

No, as there was free movement of goods and people. Personal bikes were covered under this.

Agreed. Free movement of people and goods meant just that ie free movement. It didn’t matter if you were a person alone or a group of 50 (or more), you were a citizen of a member country and could move freely.

I doubt whether an issue like this would have been considered important in the debate over Brexit.

It is just an irritation that trivialises Brexit and there are much more important things to be worried about over the decision to leave the EU.
