Some of us don't see the Blair years through rose tinted glasses.I get the impression that the left are far harder on their leaders than the right.

Too right we don't, nor the Harold Wilson years, nor the "sunny Jim" years!
Does anyone with any grasp on history really see any era through 'rose tinted spectacles',??
Sure all that kind of 'Days of Empire'
'Rule Brittania' 'Make America Great Again' bahoolix is wheeled out to get the hard of thinking to vote for populists who hark back to some golden era that never was.
Progress has been made in some areas, it's certainly a better time to be a woman now than it was in the 1980's or 70's - or any time before.
But that's not to say we don't still need to make progress and prevent backsliding .
There's always that risk.
The lazy cynicism of
'Nothing ever changes, don't bother being politically engaged, them politicians theyre all the same' is just that.
Lazy cynicism.
I think some people imagine that attitude makes them look clever or worldly..
I don't know, but it's certainly a popular take with those who would see politics dumbed down, reduced to simple black and white thinking, or preferably ignored all together .
It plays right into the hands of those who want the status quo maintained, and consolidates power, for those who want to retain their power, and wealth all for themselves..
Save that urge....it'll soon be the Jubilee.Time to dust of that union jack waistcoat of yours.A Spitfire has just flown over...resisting the urge to sing Rule Brittania....
I didn't say that you did either .
Feel free to misread my post .
You were talking about how you didn't see X and y eras through rose tinted spectacles' either..Why quote my post then?
It was me.....shoot me !Does anyone with any grasp on history really see any era through 'rose tinted spectacles',??
I didn't say I did see the past through rose tinted spectacles?, quite the opposite.
I was in rare agreement with @Adam4868
But, feel free to misuse my post.
Sorry ..It was me.....shoot me !
It was more that there seems to be plenty on here who seem to yearn for a return to the "Blair Years" 🙄
I'm not to sure what they want of Starmer or can anyone say what he actually is or stands for other than being "not a Tory" ?
TBF you went a little bit further than @Adam4868, so, since you make it clear that you always try to be fair, can you also confirm you do not see the governments of Heath, Thatcher, Major, Cameron/Clegg, Brown, May through rose-tinted spectacles, and it isn't just Labour governments? You have told us several times you did not vote for Johnson.
For the record I saw the the first Wilson years through rose coloured spectacles because I was a teenager then, having a great time, and saw everything through rose-tinted spectacles.

I can confirm I do not see the past (and hence any period of Government, by any party) through Rose tinted spectacles. The only two things which spring to mind as being better in the past are chips and black-pudding.
Happy now?
