I knew you'd say that. In fact, I heard you say that.

What have the Highland cows been doing to/with the sheep? Challenging them to tossing the caber? Highland dancing?

It was a joke... A Highland Cow will destroy pretty much anything.

I went on a camping trip with an ex.

She thought attempting to befriend a Highland Cow in the middle of nowhere would be a good idea. Terrified me. And I don't scare easy.

It would have demolished our car, her, and me.

The horns are dangerous.
I was stroking one once when it turned its head and the swinging horns nearly took me off my feet. If you have 3 foot of horn sticking out of your head you can do some damage.
It wasn’t angry it just wanted to move away.
It was a bit like a laurel and hardy sketch with the plank of wood on his shoulder.

They're lethal. Getting impaled off one of them and you're unlikely to walk away.

So was my reply.

I've only been floored once, by a cow (hornless) in 13 years of working as a herdsman. I think I'd avoid properly horny ones, for the reason you give, and I'd never approach cows with calves that I don't know. But you can normally tell how much they like humans (i.e. how kindly they are treated) by how they look at you and approach you, and how they react to a hand reaching out to scratch their head.

In case you find yourself in the forecast track of a hurricane... who knew?
