There's a difference between a church in a place called Charlotte, and a British opera singer called Charlotte Church. It genuinely did confuse me for a few moments... what could be called a 'garden path sentence' - one where you get so far, realise it's not working, and have to retrace your steps... e.g "Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana."

Well, maybe stretching it a bit, but she did sing opera stuff (badly). Must admit I've not followed her career closely.

She was originally. It brings back memories of one tabloid that used to do a countdown until she was 'legal' which was a bit disturbing but seemed to go unchecked.

I was confused because I couldn't tell whether it was supposed to be a funny meme. Was feeling very out of touch for a moment there.

I don’t think of Katherine Jenkins as an opera singer either. Classical singer maybe, but unless they actually perform in an opera then just singing on stage with microphone doesn’t make opera singer for me. Even if they sing songs from operas.

Ah no, I'd have put it in the jokes section if it had been intended as a joke. It was my miscomprehension I was amused by.

My memory was sort of right, it was actually on a website but The Sun reported on it quite gratuitously and then went down the plausible deniability route. Chris Moyles also got in trouble for comments and The Star ran articles about her assets when she was still 15. She seemed to attract a lot of pervs back then, I think Jonathan Ross also made some comments when she was still 15. Emma Watson and Billie Piper got similar treatment.
