This surely should be the default. I suppose on really busy roads, you could programme it for a longer delay in between crossing green lights during busiest times (that would make sense on the Exeter one I mentioned), but that should be the exception.

I saw a video of a lovely Norwegian one on a bike path that has sensors for bikes, so the lights change in time for bikes to cross without stopping at all! Now that'd be something for UK car drivers to moan about 🤣

That would never work in UK, as any driver will tell you, Cyclists don't use "cycle routes", they prefer to ride on the road and obstruct drivers 😂

The Telegraph seems to think that motorists breaking the law shouldn't be caught.

Tbh in some cases it's being done fairly unreasonably, but most of them are not about things like phone use in a queue of traffic or using an advance stop line, but rather near death experiences. The police seem to ignore most of them because despite being the actual problem, they are harder to judge.

Most of the videos I see are some new to cycling road warrior getting all worked up that a car was in the same postcode as them. We all, unfortunately, experience very uncomfortable / dangerous close passes far too regularly along with other issues (left hooks, SMIDSY etc.) but the most prevalent cycling "content creators" I've seen on social media seem to just look for confrontation in situations most of us wouldn't even notice.

The internet is a filter, remember. And so not representative of what the police are receiving. The closest sense I can get of reality is what the police say themselves about this sort of thing.

This should not get in the way of some unjustified outrage, however.

Seems to have been that way for a long time, if this old Viz cartoon is anything to go by.

They definitely had their heyday when they were selling over a million copies per issue. But classics like Sid the Sexist and The Fat Slags are always worth another read.
