I think there's some truth in this: if your professional public-facing persona is one that spews hatred, I think it's not unreasonable that people who only know the public persona can comment on that basis when you die.

Funny isn't it. Whenever a right wing politician or commentator makes veiled or overt threats they are at great pains to tell us how it was all an obvious joke and that we are all 'snowflakes'. Yet whenever they are on the receiving end of similar jokes, their life is at great risk and the police should investigate it immediately. It is almost as if they may be disingenuous.

They've been there 6 years and those kids look about 9 and 7, so likely never been at school in the UK. Unless you kept them indoors 24/7 it would unusual for them not to be completely assimilated into their new home, having moved so early on and barely known anything different.

I wouldn't be surprised if the parents end up only half understanding what their children are saying in French, as their spoken vocab and grammar won't be anything like the language even older French people speak, let alone the kind of formal French we learn in the UK.
