I studied in Maastricht, Netherlands. It was really tiring hearing people say, "But you're not an immigrant, you're whi..."

It's almost like 'immigrant' is code for... no, hang on, can't be... they can't be rac...

It's a fair point.

Keir Starmer can occasionally say the right thing and get the right tone. This is addressing Farage's exploitation of a family's grief.

In fairness even Badenoch has called Farage out.

Although I think that by saying that Starmer should treat it as seriously as the George Floyd murder, is implying that he isn’t and in such a way that she can deny politicising the awful event, while leaving that thought with the gullible that Farage is appealing to.

Badenoch also got it right to be fair to her.

She was on the radio claiming that the police have gone too far the other way on racism, in response to claims they are institutionally racist.

There is not much clear water between this stance and Reform arguing they are now racist against white people - which to call gaslighting would be harsh to other gaslighters.

I don't think either are correct or based on any knowledge of policing.

She's changed her position then (or expanded on it). Yesterday it was criticism of Farage but I suppose that could have just been political opportunism.

I think she spends too much time on X to avoid getting it wrong most of the time. Mind you, Starmer is not far behind (in chasing Reform voters), but he's not quite so terminally online (or has better advisers, given he doesn't trust his political instincts... unlike Badenoch, I don't think he thinks he's always the smartest person in the room.)
