I'm finding it quite amusing nearly everybody claiming that their 'tribe' saw through him... the 'centre left' and 'radical left' blaming each other for being fools, and by doing so, looking like fools... e.g.

In truth, he managed to charm all sorts of people (goodness knows how). It would be better if people just stopped this tribal blame in this case, and people admit they were taken in (or knowingly overlooked his misogyny) by a (probable) serial rapist because of his fame and his embrace of their political standpoint. It looks like his choice of politics was completely predicated on calculations of which would be most beneficial to him, not on moral principles.

When people say "It's political correctness gone mad!", they should be shown stuff like this and be asked whether 1) It was OK at the time, and 2) Would it be OK now still. At least that gives them the benefit of being able to accept that attitudes have changed have changed for the better. Just imagine being a victim of rape and seeing this kind of 'banter'.

The only people who mention 'politic correctness' seem to be those who complain about it, and they nearly always misunderstand what it's about.

It's wilful misunderstanding, to try to weaponise something that ought to make them think about their own behaviour (past or present).

Sometimes, but in other cases I have had people apologising for not being politically correct because of some imaginary transgression.

The key for me is that very, very few of his colleagues in comedy liked him. If you are a comedian and aren't getting on with any other comedians it usually points to you being a "wrong'un"

That Guardian(?) piece questioning why he was everywhere in the first place had a point. Not particularly funny, witty in a really creepy way, intelligent in a Boris sort of a way (obscure words to say things that turn out to be not all that perceptive). I'm not sure unknown anyone who particularly thought great, there's another Russel Brand show.

This does seem to have happened on our behalf quite a lot over the years.

Well some friends went to see his live stand up show 10 years ago and people were suspect then. It’s easy to spot a wrong en especially when they think they’re invincible.

The clincher for me was his friendship with Jonathan Ross.
