Gender is a social construct as far as I'm aware.
Good point.

The one thread I actively seek to avoid getting dragged into one that is usually quite fun to read. Yep, that’s triggered an emotional response.

Rather sad. A couple of pages ago I posted a short but charming about a Norwegian explorer expressing extreme happiness in finding his final cache. Just wanted to share the emotional response.

Nobody cared…….sniff.

"When Alexander of Macedonia was 33, he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer … Bristow's only 27." Sid Waddell.

I feel there is nothing more to say about darts after this.

Sid won a scholarship to Cambridge to read History.
He knew exactly what he was doing when he came out with that classic quote.

Some of Sid Waddell's quotes are wonderful.

I'm a postmodern commentator, and so, in a cheeky parallel to James Joyce or James Kelman, I get to places, verbally, that are a little unusual - when I talk about Jocky Wilson and end up sounding like a Jackson Pollock of the commentary box.

DVLA either lying, or being incompetent. I get a VED reminder at this time of year, every year.
Every year it tells me that my payment will be £x. Every year I go on line and the charge is £x+£10.

PS - I know that the cost rises on 1st April (some joke 😉) but the reminder is sent out after that date.

Dont get the relevance of that?, do women not "do" Politicking and backroom dealing/back stabbing? (those who I know do)

The point was made that politicking and backroom deals no longer goes on. I said that was naive.
I specifically made no reference to gender.

Yeah, I read that further down the thread, (I was catching up) but, the whole "conversation" was about gender, as, I think pointed out by another poster. Personally, if I am commenting on PART of someone else's post, I typically Bold that part, to make it clear (or almost clear). Just a thought 😊

Fortunately I have zero interest in darts, or any other "sport".

This is precisely why I do not engage in the gender thread. This is the emotional emotions thread.
Tangents are permitted. I'm getting annoyed now. 😉

The point was that they don't go on in men's social clubs in the way that they used to, I wasn't naively suggesting that they don't go on at all.

The exclusion of men from women's darts would have been better in the Gender thread rather than the trivial thread.
