Seemingly trivial things that elicit an emotional response of some kind

Were flares not “out” by 1973?

From the cut of those trousers, it looks like male dangly bits were definitely out of fashion.

No issue for me personally either: my car, wife's car and daughter's car are all compliant. But given the level of emissions put out by planes it does seem a bit futile slapping the restriction on cars in that area, which has one of the worlds busiest airports. You should carry on your slide into socialism and campaign for a ban those nasty planes.

That's like saying that given the level of robberies in that area there is no point doing anything to reduce the number of murders.

It's the typical excuse for not doing anything to change: "There's no point, as X, Y or Z is so much worse." China was the normal excuse for not reducing carbon emissions, but that one is wearing decidedly thin now.

The problem for the naysayers is that once these things happen on a large enough scale – be it 20mph zones or ULEZ – and cold hard data comes out that isn't even just marginal, the "Why bother?" inertia becomes so much harder to defend. Doesn't stop them trying though, given how much it winds up the libs.

Not sure what emotion this elicits other than wtf?!
People "walking" their dogs in strollers. For a couple of years it's been a rare thing, now it's daily. Almost as if it is fashionable.
(PS - Spotted first thing this morning so heat is not an excuse.)

I'm looking for my first pyjama wearing, dog pushing, vaping Tesco shopper.

It will happen soon!

I've seen it a bit. I can understand it with bigger old dogs that are no longer mobile but you see it with lap dogs too. Obviously the correct way to transport such canines is in a small over the shoulder bag, like the French. Not a tartan pushchair. I always assume it's to make the owner's life easier not the dog's.
