The national projected vote share.

It’s been great for Reform. Pretty bad for Labour, but worse for Conservatives.

The danger is that the Conservatives will move right to chase Reform, but they can’t “out reform” Reform. And in doing so they will lose what ever moderate support they may have. And they are unlikely to move left. So they are in a lot of bother.
I can see some sort of “non compete pact” at the next election, which would have to be matched by a similar lab/lib/green pact.
The problem conservatives and others have is that people don't vote reform because of what they are saying, they vote reform because they believe it has a bigger chance of things actually happening.
So if the conversatives copy reform it wouldn't change a thing, they need to find away to convince people they are not gonna put the interest of their million £ party sponsors first. I would say that would be lying, but as it is exactly as they have been doing it's more or less expected behavior right?

Yep, I realise: went to the KCC website when I saw your post, so thought I would update. Kent is a sea of turquoise!

A turquoise sea is normally a thing of beauty but this is the equivalent of a brown sea with a scummy foam on top and lots of brown lumps bobbing about. I feel for you having to endure that bunch looking after your local services. It may be good news for the Tories at the next GE as those who've defected realise what they've got.

The big question is why would anyone believe that Reform will do that? Many of their politicians are ex-Tories who deserted the sinking ship and / or felt they weren't quite right-wing enough. Maybe a few years of seeing their local services getting dismantled will make them see these guys are just selling snake oil.

We already have a thread on this. it’s a mid term vote. When does the incumbent ever do well?
Aha - here is the thread.[ also @monkers ] Of course in true NACA style, neither has a sensible title! Anyway:
But it’s depressing for me, as a self confessed centrist dad, who has voted both ways in the past. I don’t want to see a party like Reform gain traction. They have nothing positive to offer the UK public.
Ditto-ish. We've stayed Lib-dem here, but Reform have slinked in just a few hundred yards away.

Not good news, but the important election is - hopefully - 4 years away. So we shall see ...

I personally don't believe reform will make good on their promises, but that won't change my analysis above. And if Farage sees that happening just as with Ukip he will leave the party claim it's all others fault and start an new party. Sadly it does seem to work for him.

The bigger problem here is the forced merger of local councils into a larger unitary council, as those we will merge with are struggling.

At least its not Labour.

I guess you'll find out how competent Reform is when they actually have to do anything other than be populist and get elected (Clacton might like a word). I suspect you'll end up being a Reform supporter, as I think the Tories' days are numbered as a party.

Jeepers. Quite the turn-around in Devon. Two-party county council, but it's Lib Dems & Reform, from being Tory controlled.

Interestingly we only recieved flyers from Libs and Reform and only a personal visit from Reform. Nothing from any other party.

I am quite surprised by the result, immigration is hardly an issue in whiter than white west country, and it's relatively affluent, but there are a lot of Con leaning farmers and landowners who are unlikely to vote Lab.
Being the local hero I am I voted LD.

Glad we left Kent from a Political POV....

If its a choice between Reform and Labour, I know which way I'll vote. Given the writing appears to be on the wall for Labour, you may have a similar decision to make

Might be a bit like the feeling that Labour voters got when they were promised by Labour that they would do things like 'go for growth' and 'smash the gangs'
