We are building Hinckley point C with its 2 reactors. It’s very much behind. Then Sellafield C is a carbon copy of that to be built. We’ll all be quite old when that one is complete. I can’t say if it will help with energy prices. They’ll be over budget & owned by EDF & China.

I assume you mean Sizewell? Sellafield isn’t a power station, it stores and processes nuclear waste.

There was an very early (UK first?) nuclear power station on the Sellafield site.

Then known as Windscale; name tainted by an accident.

Yeah, I vaguely remember that, release of radio active iodine if I remember correctly, contaminated grazing land in Cumbria, Pennines etc

And pretty much all of the Irish sea and UK coastline going all the way upto the top of Scotland. The whole area has elevated radioactive count

They played that disaster down in the media. A bad fire & radiation spread around the Lake District & Wales. Sheep farms were shut down for years.
