This must be the 'craic' I've been hearing about.

No, this is replying to an idiot who thinks he has something of note to say.

The 'craic' is what mates who like each other and appreciate each others sense of humour have between them.

One last reply (I'll try anyway).

When someone quotes what you say and then adds a reply it refers to the quoted post (with me so far?) you scoffed at my reference to living in the posh part of Wolverhampton and that you spat your coffee out (keeping up still?) I then replied in as few words as possible in order for you to understand that "you would be surprised " (how posh some parts of Wolverhampton are) and that you "can't afford coffee " in reply to you spitting it out.

Now, read the above 4 or 5 times and it should eventually sink in, if you're still having trouble get down to your local day centre that caters for people with learning difficulties and see if they have a place available.

Hope this helps.

OK

Have read it again. You may not understand what I am saying, I certainly don't understand what you are saying.

For example, are you saying that (say) RMT are going to call a strike to get more benefit for the unemployed (say)?

Strikes are only effective if they inconvenience the public and/or cost the employer more than it would cost to make a settlement (allowing for the fact that they may be able to increase prices, which will affect those not receiving an increase, as well as those receiving an increase)
Thanks for the explanation of what Strikes are..I'd never have guessed 🙄
We've been how long with low wage/in work poverty wages in this country. How many people in work have to top that up with benefits ? Better paid workforce benefits all.
You are aware you can be in a union if your unemployed aren't you ?

Yes., but, I am a bit unclear just how much leverage the unemployed would have if they went on strike? Who would it inconvenience, which section of the country would grind to a halt?

What's your point ? Who mentioned the unemployed striking other than you ? Again do I have to tell you the unions do have other uses other than strikes you know.
But carry on....maybe you'll come up with something,I wont hold my breath though.I mean your favoured strategy for Labour is sit back and keep quiet isn't it ? 🙄

No. Where did I say it was my strategy, or, that it was my favoured strategy? I said, it was a reasonable and sensible strategy for Starmer (or any other leader of the opposition) to take, under present circumstances, when the incumbent Government was destroying itself, without him having to utter a word.

As for the unemployed striking. My point is/was, that some groups of people have more 'clout' than others, when it comes to withdrawing their labour. I assume that even you would agree that strike action is (or should be) a last resort, ie when negotiations have failed to reach a settlement agreed by both sides? It seems obvious to me that, if this stage is reached, and, if the strikers have little or no 'clout' then they are unlikely to gain more.

Reasonable to do feck all and hope for the best.Labour was calling for 15 quid a hour back in 2019 and things are a whole lot worse now.He offers no hope or vision but fingers crossed ?

I can't be arsed really with what you think...but for me every worker should be behind the strikes ! Unions have little clout is such a negative outlook, your retired aren't you ? Maybe have a think about whats round the corner and the younger generation just coming through. Its a bleak outlook....they deserve better.Collective power can get results. As shown below

Not much point in exchanging views then, is there?, I seem to recall @shep was/is vilified for saying similar?

Being retired does not insulate me, or anyone else from increasing prices, and, not having been a Public Sector worker, my Pension is not index linked....

My children and grand children ARE the younger generation coming through, as you put it... are you suggesting I am not concerned about their well being?

Not very good at the comprehension are you? I didn't say I didn't like your answers, or care what you think it was you who said (and I quote), "I can't be arsed with what you think".

So, OK, big man, shout into the empty room as much as you wish.
