The Foreign Office employs 17,500 people.

So that's about £28 per person.

It's not a great look, but (once again) isn't the hilarious gotcha you think it is.

The foreign office also includes all the overseas ambassadors and diplomats.
It is basically their job to get the forerro rocher out and make a good impression.

The footballification of politics has completely scrambled the brains of people.

Would it surprise Andy if he finds very few people support this type of spending irrespective of who they vote for?

Also nonsense, unless you seriously think they are going to invite lower level staff. These numbers on itself don't really say that much, as it doesn't provide a comparison how much did the tories spend in their first 4 months in the foreign office, if you have those numbers it would be a bit more fair alltough in all honesty a tory goverment that lasts longer than 4 months is a stretch by all means.

I'm sorry, how is it nonsense?

I don't have the figures for the Conservatives first four months Foreign Office spend but would hazard a guess that it would be about the same.

I don't think it's for the entire department. It says restaurants and bar expenses. I would expect it to be for the erm 'senior' staff.

Still £500k for food drink, don't people pay for their own stuff anymore.

I know I don't. I walk into Tesco with an empty trolley, fill it full of food and then i simply walk back out again and nobody says anything. The security guard just nods and gives me the thumbs up.

Great ay it.

Well that actually happens now in many towns and cities in the UK.
