Expect a wave of zombie company collapses in 2026.

The analysis, this is good for the medium to long term, but bad for short term, rise in unemployment, extra social welfare costs.

Just what Rachel from accounts needs

Oh and business confidence has slumped further- nice on labour

Starmers live streaming rallying cry.

Cut off within seconds of beginning

His talking points were

You might to feel better off in 2026- nope doubt that very much

Britain will turn the corner in 2026- into a raging headwind of chaos and disappointment.

The tally is mounting this being the fourth great Labour reset in less than two years

Far left want to nationalise everything-that will go down well.

Worth reading, from Peter Kellner: https://kellnerp.substack.com/p/starmers-options-in-the-last-chance

tl;dr - it looks bleak for Starmer, but not impossible. He needs to be bold. (My guess: he probably won't be.)

It's okay, but his references to past wow moments doesn't account for the fact that they have already happened, which means if they happen again no one will say wow. A bit like a new Star Wars movie.

This means, I think, that a wow moment would probably require there to be a really bad idea, such as a female Darth Vader (Darth is already black and disabled, after all).

Bad ideas as wow moments in politics is the stuff of populism. And this is where his analysis falls short imo.

Just extraordinary that Baroness Anderson equates 'freedom of speech' with the government using and funding a private business whose owner advocates the overthrow of a democratically elected government, and freely publishes child pornography produced by its own AI.

If only Jonathan Swift were alive today, he could write a 'modest proposal'...
